Synopsis

This book contains the results of a study carried out between 2017 and 2019 on boys and girls who attended the initial level of state schools in three municipalities of the province of Buenos Aires. Aires, Berisso, Ensenada and La Plata, which make up the Gran La Plata agglomerate. In line with the missions of the Center for Child Nutrition Studies (Ceren) dependent on the Scientific Research Commission of the province of Buenos Aires, which brings together the team, the objective of the study was to produce a diagnosis of some conditions related to child care in the domestic and extra-domestic spheres, as well as the nutritional status and child development, which would serve as a baseline for the reorientation of policies aimed at promoting the rights and well-being in childhood. The chapters that make up this text initially expose the conceptual and methodological framework and describe the general characteristics of the study context to then share the results of the different aspects analyzed: certain objective and subjective conditions of the home linked to care and child well-being, the quality of the school context in which they participate, the nutritional status of boys and girls and their psychomotor and socio-emotional development, the characteristics of the school food service —its assessment by school agents and recipients— together with the appreciation of mothers/fathers of the feeding of their sons and daughters.
