The language of the world

THE LANGUAGE OF THE WORLD

Poetry as a natural condition of existence cannot be considered a literary genre, but rather a category before literature itself. Poetry hovers over the whole of life and allows us to resist the absurdity that surrounds us, or, to put it in the Andrei Tarkovsky way, it is what prepares us for death. So it becomes an act of resistance. And like poetry, languages are also instruments of resistance. The languages of the world, in multiple idioms and dialects, prophesy, speak and recite, since time immemorial, the battles of man in all fields. The conjunction of poetry and languages is fascinating.
"The language of the world" aims to be a space where that great Babel language speaks with different realities and different poetics. We propose a collection to reveal fragments of the infinite whisper that nests in the continents of the earth, with their original voices. A series of poets singing about life and death in their daily and universal details, whether they live in Tierra del Fuego, Burundi, or Finland.

I am a graduate of the National University of La Plata, for Journalism, and I also studied Literature, Law and a little of everything. I have lived in that city for more than thirty years. I have published books of poetry since 1998: Máscaras del tiempo, Aspaldiko, La ojera de las vanidades y otros poemas, Lo manifiesto y lo latente, La vida leve, La isla escrita, own selection of contemporary Cuban poets-, País niño, Autóctonas y exóticas (Grant from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes), among other publications. My poems are out there in French, Greek, Basque and Portuguese thanks to the translations of Ronaldo Cagiano in the Jornal Rascunho, Folha de San Pablo, and the Revista das Artes, from Brazil. Currently, I am co-head of Proyecto Hybris Ediciones, a publishing house that emerged from thinking about poetry as such but also as a tool to recognize emblematic places, sites that stand out for their historical, cultural, geographical, and landscape value; to bring poetic production and reading closer to spaces far from media centers; to edit testimonial poetry, disseminate the authors, and promote meetings and readings in different settings. On the other hand, I have participated in numerous festivals and face-to-face poetry meetings in my country, Cuba, and Mexico, and virtual ones in the context of a pandemic. I am passionate about books, travel, and languages in general, but especially Basque and the Czech language, as well as the history and culture of the Basque Country and the Czech Republic. I love the countryside and nature, the orchard, the music of Nick Drake and the cinema, among so many things.
